Appointments
Patients may book a routine appointment with any of the doctors in the practice by telephoning 0161 493 9101 or by calling in to the surgery. Appointments are released every morning at 8am for the afternoon 48 hours later.
We operate open access every morning, where you can be seen by the next available GP. The Gp's operate this service from 8.30am- 10.30am. Please note you can book in at reception from 8am.
We are unable to guarantee the GP of your choice unless the GP has given you a review slip. Please be advised that some days can be busy and result in longer waiting times.

Cancelling your Appointment
If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone or use the link at the bottom of this page to cancel your appointment. (This option is not currently available on line)

Test Results
If you wish to telephone the surgery for test results please ring after 1.00pm. You should allow 3 to 5 days for the results to reach the practice (some test results may take longer) if any urgent treatment or follow-up is needed the practice will contact you. Enquiries about test results ordered by the hospital should be directed to the hospital not the practice.

Appointments

circled_dayThe practice operates an open access surgery each morning allowing patients to be seen by a GP between the hours of 8.30am and strictly 10.30am. Please note this service cannot always allow patients a choice of GP and at times may incur a waiting time of 90 minutes especially on Mondays and Tuesday.

Patients may also book a routine appointment with any of the doctors in the practice by telephoning 0161 493 9101 or by calling in to the surgery. Appointments are normally available up to 48 hours in advance

Patients are also able to book and cancel appointments online and should make enquiries about this service with the reception staff (Photo ID will be required for access to this service)

If your doctor of choice has no free appointments within 48 hours, you will be offered an appointment with another doctor in the practice.

calendar Click Here to book/cancel your appointment online

Please note EMIS ACCES has recently been updated. You can now register and book your first appointment online. Your online account will initially be limited to booking one appointment, and can then be fully activated at the practice. You will now also be able to reset your user ID's and passwords online and therefore won't need to come into surgery.

Urgent Appointments

Appointments for conditions requiring urgent consultation/treatment will always be accommodated the same day. It may not be possible to see the doctor of your choice. To request an urgent appointment you will need to let the receptionist know that you feel that your problem is urgent and they will try to fit you in.

In the afternoon we offer a limited number of urgent appointments for genuine medical problems requiring treatment that cannot wait until the next day.

It is helpful if you can plan ahead for non-urgent problems and repeat prescriptions. This helps us to keep space each day for urgent problems. Please do not misuse these appointments for conditions that can safely wait for a routine appointment.

Cancellations

If for any reason you are unable to attend or no longer need your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible to allow us to re-offer the appointment to someone else.

Missed Appointments (DNA's)

Most of our Patients know it can sometimes be difficult to get a routine appointment with a GP or Nurse. In the course of events where demand is unpredictable, that cannot easily be remedied.

One thing that makes this more difficult to overcome is the problem of missed routine appointments – DNAs.

Where Patients have been declined routine appointments because the consultations are fully booked, it is at best disappointing when one of those booked appointments does not turn up and has not contacted the Practice to cancel the appointment so that it can be released for others or telephones so late as to make it impossible to allocate to another Patient.

In 2014, the practice offered 57,354 GP/Nurse appointments. 6119 of these appointments, were not attended or cancelled and were therefore counted as DNAs

This is the equivalent of 60 full days of missed clinical appointments.

The cost in time and money is a burden to the National Health Service generally and the Practice in particular cannot sustain this.

Remember that your DNA is another Patient’s denied appointment.

There is great pressure on appointment availability. National policy is to encourage patients to expect to be seen within 48 hours, or on the same day for more urgent problems.

Aim

As a practice we would like to reduce the rate of DNAs, by the use of education, a certain amount of pressure, and by considering the removal of those who persistently waste our time.
